Journalist and writer Barış İnce was sentenced to 11 months and 20 days of imprisonment in the second lawsuit filed against him due to his defense during the hearing of another lawsuit filed against him due to “insulting Erdoğan.” At the time, İnce was the Managing Editor at BirGün Daily and was sentenced to 10,620 TL judicial fine after being prosecuted due to the news, entitled, “They have built a double way for their pockets.” In the lawsuit against him due to the defense statement İnce made within this file, the journalist had previously been sentenced to 21 months of imprisonment and the verdict was reversed by the Court of Cassation. Following the retrial afterwards, however, Istanbul 2nd Criminal Court of First Instance convicted İnce once again and deferred the announcement of the verdict.
