MA reporter Ahmet Kanbal, who was tried on charges of “publicly disseminating misleading information” (TCK 217/A) for his broadcast from Adıyaman after the February 6 earthquakes, which included the statement “the state was absent for the first three days,” presented his defense: “I reported what I saw; this article is censorship.” His lawyer stated that official statements also confirmed the inadequacy of the response in the early days. The preliminary investigation file has been closed; the main case file will be sent to the Adıyaman 5th Criminal Court of First Instance. The second hearing is scheduled for January 16, 2026.
