Journalist Adnan Bilen was acquitted of the charge of “insulting the President” at Van 4th Criminal Court of First Instance, where he was retried after the Court of Cassation’s reversal. Bilen had argued that his social media posts were not insults but heavy criticism, and the Court of Cassation had stated in its decision that politicians should be more open to criticism. The court acquitted Bilen based on the Court of Cassation decision.
