The trial of journalist Abdullah Kaya, who is being prosecuted for reporting on the 2014 Mount Ararat Nature Festival, has been postponed for the 18th time. The Ağrı 2nd High Criminal Court decided to await the outcome of the case pending before the Court of Cassation. Kaya had previously been arrested on charges of “aiding an organization,” but was later released and began to be tried without detention. Defending himself at the hearing, Kaya stated that he was carrying out journalistic activities and that the event was held with official permits, requesting his acquittal. The court postponed the hearing until April 26 at 10:30 a.m.
