Abdullah Kaya, a journalist in Ağrı’s Diyadin district, was sentenced to 1 year and 8 months in prison for reporting on the discovery of a village guard with a gun in a school on May 14, 2023. The court deferred the announcement of the verdict. Kaya stated that he was punished for his journalistic activity and demanded his acquittal. Decision can be appealed.
