Istanbul 45th Civil Court of First Instance rejected the CHP’s appeal against the interim injunction issued regarding the CHP Istanbul Provincial Congress. The CHP had argued that the decisions of the congress could only be audited by election boards and that the court was interfering in the internal functioning of the party. However, the court stated that the bank, title deed and SSI documents presented as evidence were beyond suspicion and that the measure was necessary for the elections to be conducted in accordance with democratic principles. The decision stated that the members of the temporary board do not have to be party members and that the court has discretionary authority. CHP’s objection was rejected, while the way of appeal is open.
