Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office initiated an ex officio investigation into the audio and video recordings taken during the second hearing of the lawsuit filed against Ekrem İmamoğlu for insulting Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor Akın Gürlek. It was stated that an action was initiated under Article 286 of the Turkish Penal Code against those who recorded and shared on social media during the hearing held at Marmara Prison. This article provides for imprisonment of up to 6 months for unauthorized audio or video recording.
