Deniz Şahin Gümüştekin, head of DİSK General-İş Izmir Branch No. 8, and Mine Bilir, a member of DİSK, were referred to the court on duty for arrest on charges of ‘insulting the President’. According to the allegations, slogans such as ‘Dictator Erdoğan’ and ‘Thief Erdoğan’ were chanted during the rallies in support of Ekrem İmamoğlu. While 8 other union representatives were released after their statements, Gümüştekin and Bilir are still being processed at the courthouse. DISK declares it will continue struggle for “democracy, law and justice”
