An administrative investigation was opened against an elementary school counselor in Amasya due to the reply they gave on the “necessities of the age” to a question a student asked on sleeping during the day, during a counselling workshop organised at the school with the subject “Balanced nutrition and regular sleep.” The student told the counselor, “Our Prophet used to sleep two hours during the day” and the teacher replied, “Students, there are differences between the age we are in and years before today. The need for sleep and rest depends on the age of the person as well as the environment they live in, together with how active they are during the day. In order for you to reach a peak in terms of both social life, academic life and mental health, the ideal schedule for you is to be asleep between 10 pm and 8 am.” The teacher is claimed to have “disrespected a faith and a Prophet, traumatizing the student and denigrating religious values” through that reply.
