An investigation was launched against 4 journalists who participated in a statement in Diyarbakır for journalists Nazım Daştan and Cihan Bilgin, who lost their lives in Turkey’s SİHA attack in northern and eastern Syria on December 19, 2024, on the allegation of “violating Law No. 2911 on Meetings and Demonstrations”.
Dicle Fırat Journalists Association (DFG) Co-Chair Selman Çiçek, Mezopotamya Agency (MA) reporter Heval Önkol, journalists Dilan Kartal and Hevidar Önver were called to testify. Çiçek and Önkol testified at the police station, while the other two journalists are expected to testify tomorrow. Journalists said the statement was a constitutional right.
