The indictment prepared in the corruption investigation against Manavgat Municipality was accepted by Manavgat 3rd High Criminal Court. Forty-one defendants, 11 of whom are arrested, including former mayor Niyazi Nefi Kara, will stand trial on various corruption and bribery charges.
The indictment demands a prison sentence of 31 to 69 years for Kara on charges of “concealing the illegitimate source of assets”, “bribery”, “embezzlement”, “establishing an organization” and “extortion by coercion”.
The file includes extensive evidence such as MASAK reports, bank transactions, land registry records and HTS analysis. The trial process is expected to begin in the coming weeks.
