Public officer Mahmut Konuk, who has been prevented by the police each time in their continuous protests for re-employment after having been dismissed from public service with Statutory Decrees issued within the State of Emergency, was convicted of “insulting the President” because of a statement he made during a protest organised on April 27, 2020 in Ankara. Ankara 44th Criminal Court of First Instance sentenced Konuk to 11 months and 20 days of imprisonment in the first hearing of the lawsuit filed against him.
