The allegations against Ekrem İmamoğlu’s lawyer Mehmet Pehlivan, who was arrested within the scope of the investigation against IBB, became a subject of debate. Adem Soytekin’s statements, which were cited as a reason for Pehlivan’s arrest, were denied by his own lawyer Onur Büyükhatipoğlu.
Büyükhatipoğlu said that the meeting in question was only a meeting between lawyer and client and that Soytekin’s mental state may have prevented him from making a healthy assessment. Stating that many of the people mentioned in the statements were not present at the meeting, the lawyer said that the statements could have been fictitious and announced that he was relinquishing Soytekin’s power of attorney.
The testimony of Soytekin, who is under arrest, includes allegations that Pehlivan created an “escape plan” and talked about political operations. However, Soytekin did not mention Pehlivan’s name in his previous statements.
Mehmet Pehlivan is still under arrest.
