Hundreds of academics, researchers, journalists, organizations and ecology activists from around the world issued a joint statement against the arrest of Onur Yılmaz, one of the founders of Polen Ecology, and demanded his release.
Yılmaz was detained on June 25 as he entered Turkey and arrested on June 27. The statement emphasized that his struggle against ecological destruction has been criminalized and demanded Onur Yılmaz’s immediate release and respect for his right to a fair trial. The statement was signed by many international academics and institutions.
