The Batman Branch of the Human Rights Association (İHD), the Batman Bar Association, and the Lawyers for Freedom Association have compiled a report on the results of their investigations into the M-Type, T-Type, High-Security, and Open Penal Institutions in Batman. The report, released on December 13, 2025, revealed that chronic rights violations in prisons have worsened this year. According to the report, prisoners faced serious obstacles in accessing healthcare; hospital referrals were made late or not at all, there were long delays in accessing medication, and even in emergencies, referrals were disrupted. The report also stated that sewage water had been left exposed for years at the Beşiri Prison Complex, which houses approximately 5,000 prisoners, that the smell reached unbearable levels during the summer months, and that this situation was contrary to human dignity.
