The Human Rights Association released its report on rights violations in 2025. According to the report, at least 2,749 people died and at least 1,112 were injured as a result of violations of the right to life, while at least 2,105 people died in workplace killings. İHD reported that at least 1,842 people were subjected to torture and ill-treatment in 2025 and at least 8,477 people were detained during interventions against meetings and demonstrations. The report said 42 journalists were arrested, access was blocked to at least 489 news reports and 2,044 social media accounts, at least 507 people were detained and 109 were arrested for expressing their views. İHD also said that from the 2024 local elections through the end of 2025, 27 mayors were removed from office, trustees were appointed to 13 municipalities and 16 mayors were arrested.
