Tahir Saçaklı, IHD East and Southeast Representative, announced that at least 1,820 rights violations were recorded in the region in the first half of 2025. According to the report, at least 42 citizens, including 10 children, 23 women and 9 men, died suspiciously. In attacks on women’s right to life, 47 women died; 2 women were sexually assaulted, 4 women were forced into prostitution. At least 27 children were subjected to sexual abuse. In 6 months, 257 people were subjected to torture and ill-treatment in detention, 18 prisoners were subjected to the same violations in prisons. At least 10 news websites were blocked, 143 people were investigated, 65 people were sentenced to various prison sentences and fines. 12 prisoners were transferred to other prisons against their will and their rights to health, communication and social activities were violated.
