Nurullah Efe, the General Chairman of the People’s Liberation Party, was sentenced to house arrest by the court after being detained following a case filed against him on charges of “insulting the president.” Efe, who was taken into custody late at night following the hearing held at Çağlayan Courthouse on March 10, was held at the police station for approximately 10 hours before being transferred to the prosecutor’s office. The Criminal Court of First Instance rejected the request for detention and issued a ruling imposing house arrest and a travel ban.
