Murat Kocakaya, principal of Muzaffer Mert Elementary School in Uşak, was removed from his post after he took steps to initiate an investigation into four female teachers who did not respond with an emoji or a “like” to a message he shared in a WhatsApp group on International Women’s Day, March 8. Following the revelation of the incident, the Provincial Directorate of National Education launched an investigation into the principal and issued a decision to suspend him from duty. CHP Uşak Deputy Ali Karaoba also brought the matter to the parliamentary agenda and submitted a written question to the Ministry of National Education.
