The hearing of KaosGL.org Editor-in-Chief Yıldız Tar, who is on trial for “membership in an illegal organization” within the scope of the HDK investigation, was held at Ankara 21st High Criminal Court. Representatives of Sweden, France, EU Delegation to Turkey, UK, Norway and many NGOs and MPs attended the hearing. The court lifted the signature requirement and the ban on leaving the country will remain in place.
In his defense, Tar described his activities as a journalist and emphasized that there are decisions stating that the HDK is not a terrorist organization and that the old/suspicious phone records in the indictment are unlawful. Lawyer Veysel Ok also demanded the removal of the “unlawful phone taps” from the file and acquittal.
