Hacettepe University closed Queer Deer, a Queer Research Society, on the grounds of “actions against social harmony” and “attitudes against religious and national values”. The administration also cited the symposium protest as a reason for the closure. The organization had been shut down before, but was reopened after a court decision. Students argue that the decision violates freedom of expression and the right to organize.
