Journalist Furkan Karabay was arrested on May 15 due to his news reports. He was charged with “targeting a public official” and “insulting the president”. However, despite being on his 74th day of detention, his indictment has still not been written; the prosecutor in charge of the case is on leave until September 1. His lawyer stated that only six news articles and a video were presented as evidence. Karabay’s brother and lawyer Harun Karabay said, “I am proud of this stance. When the time comes, it will be seen that we are on the right side.”
