The Adana 2nd Heavy Penal Court sentenced former military academy student D.D., who was tried on charges of being a member of the Fetullah Terrorist Organization, to 6 years and 3 months in prison on December 19. The prosecution stated that during his time at the military academy, the defendant had been in contact with secret imams of the organization through consecutive calls made from pay phones and public telephones, that he had attended meetings at houses belonging to the organization, and that there were witness statements against him. The defendant denied the charges, but the court sentenced him for the crime of “membership in an armed terrorist organization.”
