In the trial of journalist Fatih Altaylı on charges of “threatening the President”, the court ruled for the continuation of his detention. The next hearing in the case held at Istanbul 26th High Criminal Court was adjourned to November 26. In his defense, Altaylı said, “I have always been threatened, I have never threatened anyone.” In the indictment, in which President Erdoğan was named as the “complainant”, it was argued that Altaylı’s statements should be considered as threats. The journalist was detained and arrested on June 20 after his broadcast on YouTube.
