ETHA reporter Elif Bayburt is on trial under TCK 301 for “publicly insulting the state of the Republic of Turkey” for her interview with Rob Sadler, who witnessed the death of ISM activist Ayşenur Ezgi Eygi, who was murdered by Israeli soldiers in the West Bank village of Beyta. The first hearing will be held on June 17, 2025 at 09.50 at Istanbul 2nd Criminal Court of First Instance. Sadler’s statement “I can say that the governments of Turkey and the US are complicit in Israel’s genocide” is grounds for a lawsuit.
