AKP President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan lifted the aggravated life sentence of Adem Kozu, the defendant of the Sivas Madımak Massacre in which 33 people were burned to death in 1993, on the grounds of “permanent illness”. The decision was published in the Official Gazette. Kozu had been convicted of attempting to change the constitutional order by force. Erdoğan pardoned 8 more people for the same reason
