In the application made by the People’s Democratic Party (HDP) Ankara Parliament Member Filiz Kerestecioğlu on the revocation of her Parliamentary immunity, the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) decided that Kerestecioğlu’s freedom of expression was violated in accordance with Article 10 of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) and issued 5 thousand Euros of moral compensation as well as 4 thousand Euros of court expenses. After her Parliamentary immunity was taken off, a lawsuit had been filed against Kerestecioğlu due to the peaceful demonstration she attended. That lawsuit has been concluded with acquittal, but the Prosecutor’s Office has objected against the acquittal decree. The second acquittal decree issued for Kerestecioğlu was objected to as well and the case is still ongoing.
