DFG July Report: 34 journalists arrested, 45 websites shut down

Dicle Fırat Journalists Association (DFG) announced its July rights violations report. According to the report, 34 journalists are in prison, 8 journalists were detained and 5 were arrested. 7 journalists were sentenced to a total of 8 years, 4 months and 25 days in prison and fined 40,500 TL. The trials of 84 journalists, including the KCK Press Trial, continued. 45 websites were shut down, access bans were imposed on 10 news articles and 63 social media content. RTÜK imposed a 10-day blackout on one channel and a 5-day blackout on another. Association points to Abdullah Öcalan’s call and demands journalists’ access to İmralı
