The Dicle Fırat Journalists Association (DFG) announced its “2025 Report on Human Rights Violations Against Journalists” at a press conference held in Amed on January 10. The DFG reported that 113 new investigations were opened against journalists in the past year, 88 of which resulted in court cases, and 28 journalists are currently in prison. According to the report, 105 journalists were detained in 2025, 40 were arrested, 42 were subjected to ill-treatment, and 48 journalists were prevented from following news stories by law enforcement agencies. DFG Co-Chair Selman Çiçek stated that pressure on journalists continued throughout the year and called on international institutions to ensure the safety of journalists working in Aleppo.
