Dr. İpek Elif Atayman, former General Manager of Medya A.Ş., who was arrested on March 19 as part of the investigation against IBB, stated that her defense was not taken into consideration during the detention reviews conducted via SEGBİS. Atayman stated that the court process was “automated” and that the judges did not even look at her face.
Atayman, who has been in pre-trial detention for four months without an indictment, said that her right to defense has been virtually eliminated and her detention has been prolonged on degrading grounds. He emphasized that his transfer to Afyonkarahisar has also made it difficult to defend himself.
His lawyers announced that their client is being held without concrete evidence and that the SEGBİS sessions reduce the right to defense to form and that they will make an individual application to the Constitutional Court.
