Evrensel Daily writer Ayşen Şahin was detained in Istanbul and Korkusuz Daily writer Ahmet Takan was detained in Ankara. Şahin’s detainment was based on her social media posts on the protests at Boğaziçi University and she was charged with “public incitement towards resentment and hostility.” Takan, on the other hand, was detained within a warrant issued against him in a lawsuit filed at Bakırköy 16th Criminal Court of First Instance due to an article he wrote regarding Turkey’s meeting with the IMF. Both journalists were released after testifying at the police station.
