Özkan Bozkurt, the founder of the YouTube channel Sarı Mikrofon, was detained as part of an investigation launched following the shooting and threats during a street interview in Çorlu.
In the video published by Bozkurt on August 26, a person was seen firing a rifle into the air while another young man turned to the camera and made threats. G.B., a resident of the neighborhood, was detained after the incident, and on August 29, Özkan Bozkurt was taken from his home in Istanbul and taken to Tekirdağ.
The prosecutor’s office charged Bozkurt with “inciting the public to hatred and hostility”. On August 30, Bozkurt appeared before Çorlu 1st Criminal Judgeship of Peace and was released on judicial control with a ban on leaving the country and signing in at the police station two days a week.
