The march organized in Van for September 1st World Peace Day was tense due to police intervention. The crowd marching from the Vegetable Market intersection to Musa Anter Peace Park was prevented with pepper gas on the grounds of the banners.
The police confiscated banners and placards, including a poster of Abdullah Öcalan. During the scuffle, there was a scuffle between the citizens and the police, some people fell into the construction site on the roadside
Many citizens, including Murat Atabay, co-chair of Eğitim Sen Van Branch, were beaten during the attack.
Despite the interventions, the march continued and the crowd moved towards Musa Anter Peace Park.
