CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik shared the dates and times of 14 trials against party members in September. Çelik stated that they will follow all of the trials together with the CHP Istanbul Legal Commission.
Çelik said, “We are living in a period in which the Turkish judiciary is busy with political operations, while a brutal murder is committed every day on the streets of Istanbul and a deep public order crisis is taking place, and opposition figures are being stuffed into prisons where criminals should be.”
The CHP executive emphasized that politics cannot be won at the ballot box, so the opposition is being intimidated by the judiciary and said, “While we continue our political struggle on the streets through democratic means, our legal commission is waging an intense legal struggle in the courts. We will finally have true justice, an independent judiciary and democratic politics.”
