DEM Party Diyarbakır MP Berdan Öztürk was sentenced to 6 years and 4 months in Ağrı Heavy Penal Court No 1. Öztürk was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months on charges of “aiding an illegal organization” and 1 year and 10 months on charges of “making propaganda for an illegal organization”. Öztürk did not attend the hearing, his lawyer was present. DEM Party MP Sırrı Sakık reacted to the verdict, describing the sentences as “pressure on democratic politics”.
