A lawsuit has been filed against Nefes newspaper reporter Nisanur Yıldırım over her article titled “Minister’s company wins $150 million lottery.” Following a complaint by Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, Yıldırım was charged with “insulting a public official in connection with their duties.” It was reported that the first hearing of Yıldırım’s trial will be held on December 19 at the Ankara 41st Criminal Court of First Instance. The Ankara Branch of the Contemporary Journalists Association stated that the lawsuit constitutes pressure on journalistic activities.
