TÜSİAD President Orhan Turan and YİK Chairman Ömer Arif Aras appeared before the judge in the case against them on charges of “publicly disseminating misleading information” and “attempting to influence the fair trial”. At the hearing held at Istanbul 28th Criminal Court of First Instance, the prosecutor’s office demanded prison sentences of up to 5 years, 6 months and 15 days for both names.
The court lifted the ban on leaving the country for Turan and Aras. The defendants were released on judicial control conditions and the case was adjourned until September 23, 2025.
The lawsuit filed due to the speeches made at the TÜSİAD General Assembly is being closely monitored by the business world and the public. TÜSİAD did not make any public statement as the judicial process continues.
