Eskişehir Bar Association’s Human Rights Commission published its rights violations report on the protests and detention processes in the city following the arrest of Ekrem İmamoğlu. Commission Chair Büşra Karadan stated that serious rights violations such as prolonged detention periods, obstacles to access to a lawyer, poor detention center conditions, and failure to meet health and nutrition needs were identified.
The report includes an assessment of the freedoms of expression and assembly and the right to the assistance of counsel as enshrined in the Constitution and the European Convention on Human Rights. Karadan said, “Delays in the access of lawyers to detention centers, hygiene problems in detention centers and disruptions in access to health services are particularly noteworthy.”
