The 8th Criminal Chamber of the Court of Cassation upheld a judicial fine of 3,750 TL on the charge of “praising the crime and the criminal” for social media posts praising the July 15, 2016 coup attempt. The court ruled that the incident posed a clear and imminent danger to public order and that it was appropriate to determine the basic penalty far from the lower limit.
