Police detained three more people in the Bayrampaşa Municipality investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, bringing the number of detainees to 48. The investigation was opened on September 13 on charges of “extortion”, “bribery”, “qualified fraud” and “bid rigging”. The file includes allegations that municipality officials used gift certificates for the needy and that a deputy mayor forced a company to buy 2.5 million TL worth of food parcels. Detainees continued to be processed at the police station.
