The imprisonment sentences against People’s Democratic Party (HDP) MPs Leyla Güven, Pero Dündar and Musa Farisoğulları, who were on trial within the KCK Main Case, as well as the imprisonment sentence against Mardin Co-Mayor Ahmet Türk (who was dismissed and was replaced with a trustee) were approved by the Court of Cassation. The Court of Cassation approved sentences against 118 people and reversed the sentences against 36 people (which would affect Kurdish politicians negatively). When the approved sentences of HDP MPs are read at the Parliament, they will lose their seats in the Parliament. 154 people, including Kurdish politicians, co-mayors, Parliament members, human rights advocates, journalists and intellectuals who were previously arrested during the operations started under the name “KCK” following the local elections in 2009 were on trial for eight years.
