The 5-month prison sentence given to conscientious objector Çınar Koçgiri Doğan by Sivas 3rd Criminal Court of First Instance for not joining the military was finalized. The decision, which was appealed by his lawyer Gökhan Soysal, was rejected and upheld by the Kayseri Regional Court of Appeals. The court cited the fact that the right to conscientious objection is not recognized in Turkey. The verdict of the previous sentence given to Doğan on the same grounds will also be announced. Although an application will be made to the Constitutional Court, this application will not stop the execution. Doğan is expected to be released within a week due to the length of his sentence.
