Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) filed a lawsuit against Selçuk Özdağ, deputy chairman of the Yeni Yol Group, for 50 thousand Turkish Liras in non-pecuniary damages due to his criticism of the institution. Özdağ argued that TÜİK did not comply with court decisions and caused public damage by manipulating inflation data. A lawsuit was previously filed against CHP member Ali Mahir Başarır for the same reason. Özdağ asked, “Why didn’t you implement the court order to announce the inflation basket?”
