Conscientious objector Berke Avcı was arrested after his prison sentence for “draft evasion” became final, and was released on probation the following day. The Manisa 3rd Criminal Court of First Instance found Avcı guilty of draft evasion between October 29, 2021, and April 21, 2023, and sentenced him to six months in prison. After his appeal was rejected, Avcı was sent to the Buca Open Prison on December 9, 2025. Avcı was released on December 10, 2025, on probation. Avcı is facing another trial on charges of refusing to perform military service.
