Legal proceedings were initiated on December 24 regarding threats and insults directed at Halk TV presenter Gözde Şeker on social media. Şeker’s lawyer, Yaman Saygılı, stated that his client was targeted and subjected to systematic attacks following her criticism of Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ on a television program. Attorney Saygılı stated that they had filed a criminal complaint regarding posts containing sexist insults and security threats. Press professional organizations also reacted to the attacks, calling for the protection of press freedom.
