In the “City Settlement” case against Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer, prosecutors sought a prison sentence of 7.5 to 15 years for the crime of “membership in an armed terrorist organization.” The court lifted the judicial control measure prohibiting him from leaving the province; the ban on leaving the country remains in place. The hearing was postponed to January 23, 2026. Özer’s lawyers stated that they found the indictment unlawful and announced that they had prepared a detailed defense and request for acquittal.
