A lawsuit was filed against Sedat Karakaya, CHP district chairman in Antalya’s Kemer district, on the charge of “publicly insulting the signs of sovereignty of the state” for allegedly using the Turkish flag as a tablecloth in a signature campaign. The prosecutor’s office demanded a prison sentence of up to 3 years. Karakaya stated that the flag did not touch the ground and there was no intent to insult.
