CHP Eskişehir Deputy Utku Çakırözer released the Press Freedom Report for October 2025. According to the report, at least 60 journalists appeared before judges in October, 5 journalists were detained, and 3 were arrested. 10 journalists faced attacks and threats. Journalist and activist Hakan Tosun lost his life as a result of an attack. A trustee was appointed to TELE 1 on the grounds of a “spying” investigation, leaving hundreds of journalists unemployed. RTÜK imposed administrative fines on TELE 1, Halk TV, and Sözcü TV. In addition, access to many news stories was blocked. Çakırözer said, “Journalists are being beaten, channels are being silenced. Our fight for press freedom will continue.”
