Contemporary Journalists Association (ÇGD) launched their three-month ‘Media Report’ for April, May and June 2018. The report indicated dismissals following Doğan Media Group being sold to Demirören Holding, censorship in the media, journalists in jail; as well as lawsuits, threats, insults and targetings against journalists.
“Our report is revealing the fact on who is invading the Turkish press at the moment. Individual news articles were the problem in the past; whereas now, the problem is the publishing/broadcast policies. Attacks have started against readers. Courts are now applying double standards against journalists. We don’t accept this and say, ‘There is no defense line, but defense territory,*’” ÇGD Chairman Can Güleryüzlü said.
