Cemil İvrendi, a seriously ill prisoner held at Kırşehir Type S Prison, was sentenced by the prison administration on December 20 to one month without access to communication and communication tools. The administration also imposed a one-day solitary confinement sentence on İvrendi, citing a letter sent to the prison director as justification. Ali Bozan, a member of parliament from the DEM Party in Mersin, announced at a press conference held at the Parliament that 61-year-old İvrendi had been held in prison since 1994 and that his release, scheduled for October 2024, had been postponed by a decision of the administration and the observation board. Bozan recalled that İvrendi had undergone multiple heart surgeries and stated that the disciplinary penalties imposed had delayed his release by at least another year, demanding the immediate release of all sick prisoners.
